Leicester
Cycle Speedway Club are to attend a special civic reception
at the Leicester Town Hall on Monday 8th January at
6.30pm which has been arranged on their behalf by the
city's Lord mayor, in recognition of the seven national
titles won by the club during the 2006 season. Their great
year culminating in them being crowned British Club
Champions. The event will include a tour of the Mayor's
chambers and court rooms and will be specifically tailored
to suit even the youngest member.
Club secretary Tim Jarvis
commented:
"This is a first
for the club, and a great honour. We normally struggle
to get the recognition we deserve in Leicester as we
have to compete against several high profile sports
clubs in the city. I'm particularly pleased that the
Lord Mayor is tailoring the evening to suit even our
youngest members, a night they will surely remember for
many years"
