The O.P.S. Groups

The following Groups, some of which have been in existence for more than thirty years, represent an integral part of the Society's activities. Most are held on a regular basis at member’s homes on specific Fridays during the Winter Season. The informal nature of the meetings is conducive to friendly discussion, the dissemination of advice, and a chance to meet other members of the Society. Much of the Society’s success can be attributable to the work done by the Groups. All members of the Society are entitled to take part in the Group activities, but for some Groups an additional nominal subscription is charged.

COLOUR GROUP

The Colour Group provides a forum for members, particularly beginners, to show and discuss their colour slides on an informal basis. Members are encouraged to talk about their own slides, and to take part in informal competitions judged by the members present.- all helping to effect improvements in the standard of the work produced.

PRINT AND DIGITAL IMAGING GROUP

Another long running Group originally formed to give print workers a chance to meet, exchange ideas, and  discuss all aspects of print making. Although still giving continued support to members making prints via traditional means, the Group has now encompassed print making via the computer. Members of the Group, from beginners to advanced workers, are encouraged to bring along work for general discussion under the guidance of the Convenor. There is an excellent exchange of ideas as to equipment, materials, and techniques and, with its high level of expertise, the Group is able deal with the majority of likely queries from the selection, production, and mounting, of prints for competition or exhibition purposes
