Vertex Automatic
This is a fantastic little (33mm) watch. Presented to a Mr. James Rumsey for 25 years service to the South Eastern Gas Board in 1972. I bet he worked for them straight from demob after WWII. Funny thing is, due to takeovers etc I now work for the company that own British Gas!
I love presentation watches, something about them. The wife feels they are morbid because this guy is almost certainly dead but I feel that I'm looking after his history until I can pass it on. Perhaps he had no children of his own to do this for him, we'll never know!
The movement is a lovely 25 Jewel ETA cal 2782. She was badly scratched when I got it but a few hours with the wet and dry, autosol and brasso has brought her up as good as new. I don't usually wear watches less than 36 mm in diameter but I make an exception in this case. The wife even pops this on ocasionally.
