The Canaries head for Cardiff,

"We're all going to Cardiff"

We arrived at Norwich station at 07:20 ready in good time to catch the 08:00 train but we asked to get on to an extra train, departing at 07:30. So we got an early start and were soon at Liverpool street. When we got there the "straight thro" train was still at the platform waiting  for a diesel to pull it around the north of London.

Now a hasty trip to the underground to grab the Circle line which will take us to Paddington. We got there just before 10:00 to Cardiff but the guard would not let us on because our tickets were for 11:00, so we waited and took a group picture.

At 10:40 an extra train was laid on for Cardiff so we made a move for it and were herded into a first class carriage, quite suitable for a lads day out.

Most of the fields that we passed through had been sprayed yellow and green in Norwich's honour everything was looking good for a NCFC win.

First class

When we arrived in Cardiff the first thing we saw was a log jam of blue and white shirts, spirits sank, it looked like the canaries were outnumbered 5-1 but wait the yellow and green ghetto was the other side of the stadium. So we moved cautiously  through the ranks of "blue noses" being heckled and jeered.

The Norwich fans meeting pub

The pubs, as you can imagine had a busy day and the stadium beckoned, so we went in to find our seats. I had to queue for the gents but for a change the ladies was quiet.

The City players warming up an hour or so before kick off.

That stadium is fantastic, it's incredible, I was mightily impressed they say first impressions count and I will not forget mine.

Atomic Kitten

Yes those small dots are the kittens, they sang a couple of songs and left to a chorus of "get your **** out for the lads" good job they didn't, from where I sat, I would have been able to make out scant detail.

I'm not going to give a match commentary,

Fist Half Birmingham attack

Second half Norwich attack

1-1 after extra time.

Players await penalty drama

Iwan scores

but so do Birmingham (Johns)

Norwich miss (Mulryne)

Birmingham don't (Devlin)

Norwich miss (Sutch)

Birmingham don't (Lazaridis)

Easton scores for Norwich

but so does Birmingham's Carter

Losing 2-4 on penalties.

It's all over, Norwich beaten on penalties, to come so close, so, so close.

Gutted, I should say so but the team played so well. I didn't feel robbed just empty.
