Friday July 8th 2005
This was the day after the London bombings.
Our destination was originally Dirty Dicks (outside Liverpool St Station)
but we were advised by DaveF not to go because the transport system was chaotic.
Records from the early 1800's have this pub called Ketts Castle.
Rebuilt after bomb damage during WWII it was closed by Watney's brewery in 1976.
Its name was temporarily changed to the Old Bill then to Ketts Tavern.
The Ketts landlord hosts several mini beer festivals during the year, hence the tent.
I arrived there at midday closely followed by Graham, Terry and Richard.
Richard, Me, Terry and Graham.
Tim and DaveW didn't get in the photos.
DaveF was delayed in London but managed to get here in plenty of time to complain of the lack of Lagers
.
The intention was, after a pint, to move on into Norwich but we stopped for a couple more after that.
To save the effort of moving and to add to the relaxed nature of the day, we then had a pub lunch, washed down with
more excellent fresh and well kept ales. Concluding we should stay for an early evening curry, these are delivered to the pub.
More real ales were tasted and appreciated, more chat, more snacks and it was closing time.
