Bloodline (2006) Nacho Cerda

From the director of the infamous Aftermath/Genesis Nacho Cerdá has a new movie coming out next year, from the awesome spanish company Filmax International.

An American film producer named Marie returns to her homeland, Russia, where her mother’s dead body has been found under bizarre circumstances. She never knew her, having been adopted and brought to America as a baby. The only clue to what might have happened is an isolated, abandoned farm in the mountains that supposedly belonged to her natural parents.

Being the only next of kin, she inherits the place, but no one will take her there as local superstitions state that the area is... DAMNED. Only one man will embark on such a long and dangerous journey... A stranger that oddly seems to know quite a bit about her history... But once they arrive, the guide mysteriously disappears, forcing Marie to explore the derelict location alone. It is in ruins, scarred with evidence of savage violence.

She discovers someone else on the property... A man named Boris, who claims to have been lured there in exactly the same manner, so that he could discover the truth behind his unknown past as well.

They become stranded in the immense compound, plagued by terrifying, ghostly visions… The problem is that the ghosts that wander around are THEIR OWN. Dead replicas of themselves marauder between the buildings in the night…

Time begins to move in reverse as history re-lives itself in front of their very eyes. While both their ghosts, illustrating exactly how they will die, patiently await their living counterparts to expire.

Can they escape their destinies? Or kill their own ghosts?

A cycle of horror comes to fruition, as they discover the reason they have been summoned for this perverse reunion…

And the brutal secret behind their bloodline.

Snuff Movie (2005) - Bernard Rose

"Sharp, savage and very, very nasty - from the maker of Candyman and Paperhouse.
"

synopsis
A famous director of horror movies, the reclusive Boris Arkadin (Jeroen Krabbe), invites a group of actors to his Highgate mansion, to recreate a series of Manson Family-type murders that took place in the same house three decades earlier. But before long, the lines between truth and fiction, past and present, are blurred - with gruesome results. Writer-director Rose has constructed a dizzyingly intricate storyline, all multiple levels of narrative, double and triple-bluffs, right up to a stunning final revelation. Complete with very un-PC levels of gore, nudity and, yes, sheer hysterical terror, the result recalls the exploitation classics of the 1970s. One for true horror aficionados.

Bernard Rose was recently spotted at the Edinburgh International Film Festival showing his most recent work "Snuff Movie". Fangoria caught up with him and asked him about his upcoming projects.

Right off the bat he said that he may not even direct the news that came out from Variety about "Amusement". He hasn't signed anything and he commented that if every movie that Variety reported on was made we would be swamped with films. Than he went on to talk about Candyman.

"I was originally going to direct CANDYMAN 2,” says Rose. “I wrote a sequel, but it was a cannibal movie [reportedly based on Clive Barker’s story “The Midnight Meat Train”] and they were all horrified by it. I sent it to Clive and he said, ‘Pardon me for asking, but where is the Candyman in all of this?’ However, I love that script and I’d really like to make it soon. It’s a brilliant story and it ends with the [British] Queen feasting on the body of prostitutes and throwing their entrails into the fire, while her corgis look on. I think that the cannibal genre needs a comeback.”

Currently Rose is looking for his film "Snuff Movie" to get distribution. The story follows a director who films murders that may be real. According to Rose it will take a few cuts from the MPAA but he plans on releasing it uncut on DVD. First he wants to try and get it in theatres though. He thinks he shouldn't have much problem getting it in UK theatres. He also added "For all the fans tired of PG-13 horror, this is the one you have to get out there and support.”

Fragile (2005)

Director:
Jaume Balaguero
Calista Flockhart is to star in Fragile for Filmax as a nurse who takes a new job at a desolate children's hospital during its closing days. She struggles to keep the kids safe and uncover the mystery behind apparent attacks of an unknown origin that hurt the kids so that they cannot leave the premises.

Now I know the thought of Ally McBeal in an horror may turn people off,but trust me Jaume Balaguero is one of our genres most talented new directors his shorts and features The Nameless & Darkness are modern classics.

Engineering Red (1993) Andrei Yi

Long before net shock sites like orgish and rotten, people who wanted to be shocked had to make do with Mondo films (Mondo means world in italian the country that made most mondo shock films,so the mondo genre is formed of real world horror docu's).Well just got through watching a recently unearthed vhs by one of All Things Horror's Russian members Disc so huge thanks for finding it.

The film is Engineering Red (1993) by Andrei Yi and consistes of mainly found footage of operations and other unsavory items like various conjoined twin footage including a filmed seperation also lots limb cutting & brain surgery thrown in for good measure. All wrapped around artsy footage of medical equipment and a woman in various dance poses.Sadly any plot or naration was lost with it being Russian language only, only its written chapters being in English.

I Cant say its an happy viewing experience but one that you just cant seem to stop watching. But worth at least hunting down to bang in the collection I'd say.

Dead Centre (2005)

A film about architecture under the influence of zombies. It's part homage to the "ugly" carbuncles of urban Britain and part undead carnage. It's zombies and angled concrete; Clockwork Orange meets Dawn of the Dead.

Tomie: Beginning-Tomie: Revenge - Both (2005) Ataru Oikawa

Tomie: Beginning (2005)

Another film in the Tomie series based on the Junji Ito manga about the revenge driven girl who constantly grows limbs back and refuses to die. The film continues the trend of replacing the actress playing Tomie, this time with Rio Matsumoto. This film will be followed the week after with Tomie: Revenge Synopsis taken from ACDrifter

Not sure if the world needs 7 Tomie films but thats what its gonna have,Hopefully 6-7 will be more like the fine Rebirth entry and not like the low budget shot on digital video Another Face entry. The times on both are under 80mins and by the sounds of it had only a weeks run in the cinemas in Tokyo.

We are promised low budget indie gore a plenty in this up coming film.Which started out as THE 187 SHOW but had a fair % of its content reshot.looking at the website the murder twins "Shana Rae & Heather Leigh Davis" look a hoot.

Flower and Snake 2: Paris/Shizuko (2005)

The film is also a full-frontal plunge into the world of S&M. In short, it is about a mature, well-off, sexually frustrated woman (Sugimoto) discovering the joys of being beaten, bound and abused by a drunken artist (Endo) with a bad temper and poor grooming habits.

For me this is awesome news as Takashi Ishii is a great sleazie director, thanks to Gomorrahizer for digging the trailers out, warning theyre pretty much like well shot porn so dont click on 'em at work.

The Man Behind the Scissors aka Hasami Otoko (2005)

New thriller from horror gore director Toshiharu Ikeda who made the Evil Dead Trap and did the Red Porno entry of the Angel Guts films.

Veteran splatter director Toshiharu Ikeda, infamous abroad for "Evil Dead Trap" and "Angel Guts," tones it down this time with an intriguing psychological thriller. A couple travel around Tokyo executing young girls in ritualistic ways with scissors. When a copycat killer appears, the murderers find themselves in a hunt to find the usurper before an enthusiastic homicide cop gets to them. Despite Ikeda's background, "Hasami Otoko" stays remarkably gore-free. It's a complex serial-killer psycho-drama, filmed in a deadpan, noir gumshoe style, with an elaborate deception at its core. A far cry from the glam babe role in "Casshern" or the thigh-booted ninja in "Aka Kage," Kumiko Aso is completely unrecognizable in this role as the tortured, disturbed serial killer, while Etsushi Toyokawa gives a solid, sullen performance as her mysterious accomplice. As the over--keen cop, Hiroshi Abe starts subdued but soon turns on the scenery-chomping charm as the story spirals into insanity.

From its quite beginning this arrogant kinoproyekt of screening Mary semenovoy's novel "wolfhound" causes significant interest both among the medium of the amateurs of the genre of fentezi and in the professionals of cinema, the rollers and of reviewers. Actor's composition of the film: Aleksandr domogarov, Nina usatova, Nataliya Varley, Yuozas Of budraytis - already suggest optimism apropos of the level of kinoprodukta, and scale location shootings and assumed budget in this $10 million hopes only strengthen. The first surveying stage of film was passed to Slovakia, and on its completion before beginning pavilion surveys the creators of picture published the first personnel from the film, where we can with its own eyes see, by what appear before the spectator wolfhound with their non-volatile Myshom, knesinka, cannibal, Luchezar and mother Kendarat.
