All Night Long 4 2002 Katsuya Matsumura "All Night Long R" was released on DVD only in Japan, but I managed to track it down. The film is not as savagely violent as the previous two movies "All Night Long 2" and "All Night Long 3",but the tone of it is definitely disturbing and depressing. It tells us about obviously disturbed Japanese individual named Yuuki who captures two Japanese girls. One of them, Reika, is brutally murdered and her captor cuts her up and takes her body parts like ears and breast. The second girl is chained to his bed and he performs a hideous experiments on her body."All Night Long R" is a rather slow-moving horror film that offers plenty of shocking violence. The acting is excellent and the killing of a Japanese boy is extremely vicious and cruel.Sometimes the film has a mood of a very sad romance. So if you're a fan of Katsuya Matsumura's works give this gem a look. Embalmer @ IMDB IMDB
All Night Long 5 2003 Katsuya Matsumura The weakest part of "All Night Long" series, but still unsettling When a young woman witnesses a suicide she is so overwhelmed with sexual excitement that she masturbates, unaware that she is being observed by a strange man.Later he invites her home where she is wined and dined.Soon she wakes up to find herself locked in a cage.Of course their twisted and sadomasochistic relationship will end in a sadistically explicit bloodbath...The version of "All Night Long 5" I have is in Japanese, but the above synopsis is general gist.I'm a big fan of Katsuya Matsumura and I absolutely love the first three "All Night Long" movies."All Night Long R" is also pretty good whilst still being deeply disturbing.Unfortunately "Initial O" is too long and sometimes dull,so I was a little bit disappointed.Still there is plenty of sex and some unsettling sexual torture on display. There is not much gore, but some scenes(for example throat slashing or castration)are particularly nasty."All Night Long O" looks more like extremely dark drama/romance with surprisingly nasty edge than horror film, but if you're a fan of Japanese horror give it a look.7 out of 10. Angel Guts 1 : High School Coed 1978 Chusei Sone The first in a long series of films based on the dark adult comic books of Takashi Ishii, this rape thriller from the famed Nikkatsu Studios caused controversy for its themes and heavily Freudian style. Chusei Sone directed the film, which stars Machiko Ootani and Sansho Fukami in the story of the violent aftermath of a cheerleader's brutal gang-rape by juvenile delinquents at a suburban high school. Stylish and filled with symbolism (particularly involving water), the series is not for all viewers, but fans of Dario Argento and Brian DePalma should be riveted, especially to the better sequels which followed. — Robert Firsching IMDB; All Movie Guide
Angel Guts 2 : Red Classroom 1979 Chusei Sone Chusei Sone returned to direct this first sequel to Jokousei Tenshi No Harawata (1978). The snuff-oriented plot concerns a men's magazine reporter named Muraki (Keizo Kanie) writing an article on an adult-film actress (Yuuki Mizuhara) who appeared in a cult porno movie. When he tracks her down, Muraki discovers that the actress was really the victim of a filmed classroom rape. Sone's directorial style is well-matched to the dark tone of the source material, a series of perverse adult comic books written by Takashi Ishii. Tenshi No Harawata: Nami (1980) followed. | Robert Firsching IMDB; All Movie Guide
Angel Guts 3 : Nami 1979 Noboru Tanaka Noboru Tanaka directed this third installment in the popular series which began with Jokousei Tenshi No Harawata (1978). As she investigates a bizarre series of crimes, she links up with a male reporter writing a similar article for a men's magazine, and the pair slowly uncover a strange pattern leading to a serial rapist. Angel Guts 4 : Red Porno 1981 Toshiharu Ikeda This stylish fourth installment in the series which began with Jokousei Tenshi No Harawata (1978) is flamboyantly directed by Toshiharu Ikeda. The plot, based on the work of dark fantasy illustrator Takashi Ishii, deals with a woman fired from her department-store job for moonlighting at an adult bookshop. Against her better judgment, the depressed and lonely clerk finds herself becoming involved with one of the porno customers. Needless to say, this turns out to be a grave error. Ikeda, who went on to make the horrifying Shiryo No Wana (1988) from an Ishii script, paints his scenes more than he directs them, resulting in a dazzlingly visual film. Jun Izumi and Masahiko Abe co-star in this popular shocker, which brings to mind the work of cult Italian filmmaker Dario Argento with its brilliant colors and startling bursts of violence within a standard thriller framework. Tenshi No Harawata: Akai Memai (1988) was next. — Robert Firsching IMDB; All Movie Guide
Angel Guts 5 : Red Dizziness 1988 Takashi Ishii 6.4 The fifth installment in a series of rape-thrillers which began with Jokousei Tenshi No Harawata (1978) is stylishly directed by Takashi Ishii, author of the dark adult comic books upon which the series is based. Mayako Katsuragi stars as Nami, a nurse who is brutally raped after getting off the night-shift at a hospital. When she breaks away from her rapist, she runs into the path of an oncoming car driven by Muraki (Naoto Takenaka). The pair begin a relationship, but Nami is haunted by bloody nightmares of her attack, leading to a horrifying climax. Takenaka went on to mainstream acclaim by starring in Rampo (1994). Ishii, who directed the remaining films in this series, returned with the most popular installment, Tenshi No Harawata: Akai Senko in 1994. — Robert Firsching IMDB; All Movie Guide

Black Tight Killers 1966 Yasuharu Hasebe 7.1 Playgirl assassins a-go-go! A mod/pop art sixties masterpiece masquerading as a gangster/spy spoof, BLACK TIGHT KILLERS (Ore Ni Sawaru To Abunaize, roughly "Don't Touch Me, I'm Dangerous") stars then-current matinee idol and singing star Akira Kobayashi as Daisuke, a combat photographer trying to save his stewardess girlfriend, Yoriko (Chieko Matsubara), from an alliance of American mobsters and Japanese yakuza (gangsters). What he soon discovers is that everyone is after a cache of gold hidden by Yoriko's late father immediately after World War II. The first film from one of Nikkatsu Studios' most talented late-sixties directors, Yasuharu Hasebe, BLACK TIGHT KILLERS shows a definite influence from Hasebe's mentor, the iconoclastic and brilliant Seijun Suzuki (Branded To Kill, Tokyo Drifter). Blue Spring 2001 Toshiaki Toyoda It is a story about high school anarchy in the long, bruised-and-battered tradition of BE-BOP HIGH SCHOOL and FUDOH. This school is surrounded by misleadingly picturesque cherry trees in full bloom, it's the students who set the rules while uncooperative teachers are dangled from windows. In this power structure, the leader is decided by a peculiar game of dare: hanging from the rooftop fence, he who can clap his hands the highest number of times without plummeting to his death is king. Violent assaults on the throne are punished with a severe bruising or in worse cases with a kitchen knife in the gut. The desolate concrete hallways of the building are covered floor to ceiling in black graffiti, which acquires a new coat each time another student comes to power. | HK Flix IMDB

The Bottled Fools 2004 Hiroki Yamaguchi 7.3 A unique and intense vision of abstract, psychologically charged sci-fi horror, surprise hit of the 2004 Fantasia Festival. Set almost entirely in a transport elevator that shuttles citizens between futuristic towns stacked on top of one another, a hellish scenario unfolds. Amongst the postmodern masses that squeeze into the public transport: cell phone-addicted businessmen clones, militant law enforcers; and a 17 year old school girl (Luchino Fujisaki) with the psychic ability to receive visions from each person on board. Oppressive paranoia builds when a pair of convicted homicidal rapists join the ride and manages to escape their abusive police escorts. Terrific sets, detailed characterization and outbursts of excessive violence set the stage for certain doom and utter bloody chaos. IMDB; DVD Empire; All Movie Guide; Amazon UK

Boxer's Omen 1983 Chin Hung Kuei 6.8 As if Jodorowsky met Coffin Joe in Hong Kong and decided to collaborate on a supernatural martial-arts action film. Filled to the brim with visual overload, mystical drama, Buddhist symoblism and dark supernatural atmosphere, this film follows the life of a boxer embroiled in a vengeful feud sparked by the brutal, nearly fatal beating of his brother in a sparring match. He is overwhelmed one night by a vision, an omen as it were, which ultimately leads him towards the realization of his own destiny that takes him along a path of spirituality and a quest for the power and inner peace that may free his lineage from an ages old curse. This scenario is used as a launching point for what is surely one of the most bizarre, chaotic & excessive Hong Kong flicks ever made. Most of the movies effects are obviously low budget but the rather excellent filmwork and audaciously gonzo, over-the-top nature of the imagery far than makes up for any budgetary restrictions. The indelibly weird vibe that permeates the film is, in fact, partially due to it's low-fidelity nature. Those familiar with the "Chinese Ghost Story" and similar fare will be familiar with the themes conjured up by these supernatural Hong Kong action flicks and may know what to expect. But those who are not should get ready for a pretty wild trip down a road full of wild twists of logic that lead through glowing supernatural vistas, magical terrorist attacks, flying eyeball creatures, and wild clashes with demonic entities and manifestations of all sorts. A crazy little nugget of a film that could even be an accidental masterpiece. At the very least, a unique cinematic experience that's probably like nothing else you've ever seen. Virtually impossible to track down and not, as far as I know, offically available. In spite of this, fans of offbeat & mondo cinema should do whatever they can to track this gem down. IMDB
