| This Family company, set up in the coach business has been in existence for a long time, once operating from a garage in Giodwick as a Coaching business. Since then they acquired a Garage on their present site on Lees road and further Yard space off Roundthorn road during the 1980's, which was the old water board premises. During 1986, the government deregulated bus companies, and Stotts took the plunge into service work, buying redundant and withdrawn double deck buses from Greater Manchester Transport, (Daimler Fleetline) Merseyside (Leyland Atlantean), Yorkshire Rider (Leyland fleetline) West Midland Travel (Leyland Fleetline), Western Scottish (Leyland Fleetline,Clydeside 2000 (Leyland Fleetline/Dennis Dominator), Grey Green/GMT ( Daimler Flleetline) and West Yorkshire(Leyland Atlantean),also bought was 4 Renault S56/Reeves Burgess minibuses from Mainline, total 51 buses. In 2004, The business is now run by 2 Brothers Steve and Gary, with the help from their father Alan, Routes As well as School Contracts, they operated 5 routes, these were: 398 Grotton-Oldham-Ashton 413 Sholver-Oldham-Royton-Thonham Summit 416 Waterhead-Oldham-Limeside Circular 417 Waterhead-Lees-Oldham-Limeside Circular 422 Oldham-Chadderton butterworth lane In 1987 the routes were aquired by GM buses, and agreements made that Stotts could not start service again for 5 years. In 2001 Stotts started running bus services again due to pressure from the public and lack of services from First Manchester (Firstgroup), so began: 427 Grotton-Lees-Oldham-Hollins-Hollinwood 307 Stockport- Bramhall Circular 308 Stockport- bramhall Circular 390 Stockport- Woodford Which is a service ran by Firstgroup, and others are yet to follow. Fleet Details are unknown as to what Coaches they had in the early days, apart from Bedford and Ford but in 1986- 2002 the company preferred buses of Leyland,Dennis, Volvo and Daimler, with the last Leyland Atlantean being used in late 2003 ( A735NNA a 1984 ex Greater Manchester South) which was new to Greater Manchester transport. Stotts have always bought secondhand buses, but for the new minibus contracts in Stockport the Pte have insisted they be new buses, so 2 Dennis Dart, 1 Optare metrorider and 2 Mercedes Benz minibuses had been leased until 4 new Mercedes minibuses arrived before being returned. Also during late 2001/ early 2002 5 secondhand MCW Metrobuses joined the fleet from West Midlands Travel and since the withdrawl of the ex Greater Manchester Atlanteans A695 HNB, A704 LNC, A735 NNA and A750 NNA in 2002/3. In 2003, due to more school contracts, 5 more cummins engined MCW Metrobuses plus 6 Leyland Lynx and 1 Mercedes minibus arrived from Arriva. The fleet as at 1/ 2004 comprises of 2 Leyland Tiger/Plaxton coaches 1 Volvo/Plaxton Coach 5 Leyland Lynx 11 MCW Metrobuses 8 Dennis Dominators/ East Lancs 5 Scania 113/Alexander 1 Man / Optare 1 Volvo/Northern Counties 5 Mercedes Benz/Plaxton minibuses Total 39 Former operators are Hills of Tredegar Denslow Chard Parks of Hamilton Arriva Merseyside West Midland Travel Cardiff Transit (Stagecoach) North Western Black Prince |
