Streetheart Records was formed in July 1998 by Saxby and Arthur of Warriors & Last Resort fame, firstly to get their own records out and secondly to start releasing other bands material, compilations, etc.  The idea was to put something back into the scene so to speak, to do their bit.

The first thing they did was get a P.O. Box at the local sorting office.  Then after recording some tracks for the Italian Durango 95 Co., they decided to do the mini album Bad Guys consisting of the four tracks done for Durango plus C.S.A. and a couple of re-workings - Garry Bushell and Free Reggie Kray.  The Durango recording was going out on vinyl so, as part of the deal, they got the rights to use the material on CD.

The next step was getting a loan and finding a manufacturer.  The manufacturer was found in Dulwich (where Saxby used to live) and they got 1000 of the CDs pressed - they were on the way...

October 1998 saw the official release of Bad Guys, initially they were sold to mates, down the local pub and at gigs as it was difficult to get a distribution deal.  Eventually a deal was sorted out with phd (plastic head) and, with little advertising and not much "know-how" they managed to get rid of a few hundred copies.

But, although it is absolutely brilliant, it is a mini album and 2 of the songs are re-worked so it was harder to sell it and they decided to buy the stuff back from the record companies and sell it on at gigs etc.  Tony from Step 1 suggested they also distribute some Last Resort, Cho-Zen and Arthur Kay stuff as well.

Once the stuff started to sell and they got a few quid in the kitty they had some T-shirts done and they sold out in no time.  They had another lot done, this time the skinhead on the cross design, and these also sold like crazy - at the time of writing (9th December 2000) there are only 10 still available.

In July / August 1999 they started recording their 3rd (and best to date) album
A Cross To Bear which is out NOW...

Lol Pryor heard the demo and was very impressed (Lol is very fussy when it comes to music - Saxby's words not mine!) and said he would like to release it.  It turned out to be a joint venture cos Streetheart are publishing all the new songs and get a mention on the album, and Lol's Harry May Records Co. (see Index for link) has pulled out all the stops and produced a digi-pak, poster and included an extra 10 live tracks recorded in Germany 1999.

In summer 2000 Arthur asked Saxby to buy his share of the record company which he did, although they are still partners in the publishing side.

The Future >>> Streetheart have a lot of live, rare and unreleased tracks from around a dozen or so British bands, including The Business, Major Accident, Warriors, Gundog, BeerZone, Retaliator, On File etc.  They are hoping to get into a studio soon and compile an album from this material, working title
The Greatest Street Punk Swindle
Volume One
