Wallpapers

After having built up quite a number of scanned and retouched images, I thought it would be nice to use them to create some wallpapers for use as backgrounds to brighten up your computer screens! Again most are currently based around Agnetha, but I will be adding more featuring the whole group later.

I've created separate galleries for the two most common Windows screen resolutions, for 1024 x 768 and for 800 x 600. Simply download from the appropriate galleries. If you use a different screen resolution then I'm sorry, but I just can't produce images to suit ALL resolutions, as I'm sure you can appreciate.

Once you've downloaded the wallpapers, you can display them as your screen background as follows:

Windows 98 users

All you need to do, is go to the "Start" menu, then choose "Settings" - "Active Desktop" and then "View as Web Page". This will allow you to use JPG format pictures as your background picture, as well as the standard BMP format.

In case you aren't sure what to do next, you then right click on your screen desktop, and choose "Properties" from the menu. When the "Display Properties" box appears, choose the "Background" tab, and click on the "Browse" button to find the picture you wish to use as your background. Once you find the file, click on it and choose "Open", the picture will then appear as a preview in "Display Properties". If this is the picture you want, just click on "OK", and the picture will become your background.....simple as that!

Windows 95 and earlier users (+ Win 98 users who dislike "Active desktop"!)

Unfortunately you folks cannot use JPG pictures as your wallpaper (I don't THINK "Active Desktop" was an option in Win 95?), so you will have to save a version of the file in BMP format before you can display the picture on your desktop. Don't worry though, it really isn't so much trouble to create a BMP file copy. Read on!

All you need to do, is open the JPG picture in any half decent image editor / viewer (such as Paintshop Pro for example), then choose "File", then "Save As" . In the box that appears, find the JPG file you want to convert, and click on it. Next click on the "Save as type" drop down arrow, and select "Bitmap Image (*.bmp)". Then click on either "OK" or "Open" and you now have a BMP version of your picture, to use as your display background! See "Windows 98 users" above for how to change your desktop picture using "Display Properties".

Sorry Mac users, I'm not sure about you guys, but no doubt it's a similar process?! I hope the above instructions were clear enough folks? If not, just drop me an E-mail and I'm sure I'll be able to help you out!

Oh, and in case you were wondering why I didn't just post the wallpaper images as BMP files in the first place....have you noticed how much larger BMP file sizes are compared to JPG's!? Enough said!

Andy
