About Me

Well folks, I promise I'll keep this section as short as possible, I wouldn't want to keep you from the interesting bits of my site TOO long! Just try to stay awake at the back there!

AGE:
Watched ABBA win in Brighton in '74 in my early teens......so work it out yourself!
Oh, and my star sign is Libra......I admit I do read the horoscopes on occasion, just for a bit of fun!

HOME TOWN:
Sunny(?) Bolton, within the county of Lancashire in the north west of England. Despite what many in parts of the UK still think, it isn't all factory chimneys and cobbled streets up here these days! Some pretty countryside all around us in fact. The opening shot for the famous TV soap "Coronation Street" is of Bolton...fame at last! Not forgetting of course the famous "Parrot sketch" from "Monty Python's Flying Circus"...set in "a Pet shop in Bolton"!

MARITAL STATUS :
Still single......time I gave up hope of ever meeting Agnetha's double I guess!?
(This is meant in JEST by the way folks....someone recently wrote to me thinking I was actually being serious! Guess my daft Brit humour isn't always fully understood or appreciated! Oops! ;-)

OCCUPATION:
Technical officer / CAD Draughtsman at BOLTON GATE CO LTD, an engineering company based in Bolton. Note that we are based on "Waterloo Street"....where else! Of course it used to be the old pencil for drawing, but now it's all done using the computer. As much as I enjoy computers, I do miss the old ways just a little.

FAVOURITE MUSIC :
Other than my love of ABBA of course, I'm lucky in that I have a pretty broad taste in music. I enjoy artists such as The Corrs, Lisa Stansfield, Roxette, Simply Red, The Carpenters (I LOVE Karens voice!), and perhaps my favourite band, the oddly named but brilliant Prefab Sprout! I also listen a lot to the solo work of the incredible Swedish singer Marie Fredriksson...one of the best female voices around IMHO. I also enjoy blues, modern country, and classical...especially the works of Chopin and Mozart. I really love Chopin's "Nocturnes"...how I wish I could play them!
I recently discovered the amazing voice and piano playing of Jazz artist Diana Krall...an incredibly talented (and beautiful!) lady!

FAVOURITE MOVIES:
This is very difficult, since I have SO many favourites...but here's just a few! For Drama I'd choose films like "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", "The Deer Hunter", "Philadelphia", "Awakenings", "Rain Man"...and best of all the incredibly powerful "Schindler's List" (If this doesn't move you...then there's no hope for you!)

On the comedy front I enjoy films like "The Three Fugitives", "Forrest Gump" (also very moving I thought)....but my absolute comedy favourites are the "Pink Panther" movies starring my hero, the late great Peter Sellars. I NEVER tire of watching him play the incompetent "Inspector Clouseau"....and I can do a fair impersonation of him too! Hear some funny lines from the movies at the superb "Pink Panther page"

I'm a big Sci-fi fan as well, my favourite movies being "Alien", "Close Encounters", "2001", along with many of the old black and white fifties Sci-fi movies!

FAVOURITE TV SHOWS:
For comedy, you can't beat the wonderful "Only Fools and Horses" for me, along with the hilarious "Fawlty Towers" and brilliant "One Foot in The Grave".

I think if I had to choose just ONE TV show however, it would have to be the superb "X-Files". I LOVE this programme, and not only because it stars the incredibly sexy Gillian Anderson, (although that is one reason!) I've always fancied myself as a bit of a "Fox Mulder"...(OK perhaps more realistically a "Mouldy Fox"?!)

FAVOURITE ANIMALS :
Dolphins (must be magical to swim with them!), the Tiger (most beautiful creature on the planet) and Wolves. I don't know exactly what it is about the wolf, but I feel a real affinity with them. Here are a few web site links:
Dolphins
, All For Tigers!, The Wolf Inside, Call of the Wild

OTHER INTERESTS:
Well for a start I'm a computer addict...I can't keep away from them to be honest! Most of my computer time is spent editing and enhancing photographs, it's amazing what can be done with the right software these days! I'm not a big computer gamer...mainly due to the fact that I'm rubbish at most of them!

I have a big interest in wine....no, not JUST drinking it! If I came into money, I'd love to own a vineyard in fact. I especially enjoy a good Aussie Shiraz or Chilean Merlot. I'd love the chance to taste one or two of the top red Bordeaux wines some day.....Agnetha, any chance of a sample from your cellar, next time I'm in Stockholm?! (I wish!) Anyhow here are a couple of great sites about wine:
Wine Dictator, Robin Garr's Wine Lovers Page, Wine Spectator.

As for nights out, I prefer quiet cosy pubs to noisy nightclubs...but I'll put up with them...given the right company! The beer MUST be really good of course, I prefer quality over quantity! Some nice brews available over in Stockholm these days!

If Eating out, I love Pasta or spicey food like Mexican or Indian. Not forgetting Mum's unbeatable Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding, of course!

I enjoy reading about myths, legends and the Paranormal. I'd love to witness a UFO for instance.... haven't yet unfortunately!
I'm sure we aren't alone in this vast universe! Here are a couple of links on all things Supernatural:
Fortean Times, The Supernatural Realm, PARAseek.com, Museum of Unnatural Mystery.

I TRY to keep in shape at the gym, although I'm spending more time in front of the PC than on the exercise bike these days! I used to enjoy playing soccer, but the old knees won't take it any longer, so now I'm just a spectator! I'm a Bolton Wanderers supporter for my sins.....although I've not been very loyal lately, sorry lads!

Oh yes, and I'm fascinated by most things connected with my "second home" Sweden, including the language, which I can speak / read/ write a little. I can listen to the female Swedish voice for hours, it fascinates me!

Well, sorry I did go on a bit there didn't I? Hope you're still awake at the back!?
Perhaps at least you found some of the links here of interest? Thanks for reading this far!

PS.
A couple of people asked why I hadn't originally included a photo of yours truly, basically it was because I don't have that many recent shots with me in them....I'm not a lover of the camera lens! Still, I did find a couple that don't seem to be TOO scary! The first is a spare shot from a recent passport photo session....and you know how great they usually turn out, so don't expect too much! The other is of me with my close friend Carina who lives in Stockholm.....we were out in the beautiful archipelago in this photo....I love it out there. Anyhow here they are....just don't scare the kids!

Me looking like "Convict 99"!

Me and great friend Carina out in the Stockholm Archipelago

Cheers , Andy
