J.R. de Silva and Colonel Henry S. Olcott created the Buddhist flag in 1880 in Sri Lanka. In 1952 the World Buddhist Congress adopted it as the International Buddhist Flag. It has now become the symbol of the unity of all Buddhists and of universal peace
