There are lots of wooded areas in the north of the county where public access is permitted. So whether you walk, cycle or horse ride you can enjoy a day in the Greenwood.

Thieves Wood.

Thieves Wood is a popular place for walking, horse riding and cycling.

Close to Sutton-in-Ashfield Thieves Wood is situated on Coxmoor. Close by are is Newstead Abbey. There is a visitor centre, ample car parking, and refreshment available. Routes are well signposted.

Blidworth Woods and Haywood Oaks.

The Robin Hood Way runs through these woods and gives access to Thieves Wood and beyond.

The woods provide a variety of walks and are wheelchair friendly. They are also ideal for traffic free horse riding.

The main car park is off Longdale Lane, Ravenshead, just off the A614 north of Nottingham. There are other car parks off minor roads to Blidworth and Ravenshead from the A614.

Boughton Break.

Boughton Brake woodland is situated next to the Boughton Pumping Station Heritage Centre in Ollerton.

There are numerous woodland paths to explore from the Pumping Station car park. The International Scout Camp is nearby at Walesby.

Follow the brown tourist signs to the site from the A614 road.
