Vicar Water, Clipstone in Autumn.A reclaimed colliery spoil heap is the basis of this new country park situated in Clipstone.

In the centre of the park is Vicar Pond that, in the early 1900’s, was used for boating and swimming by local residents and soldiers from a nearby army camp.

The site has undergone dramatic changes following the development of the nearby Clipstone Colliery. Reclamation of the spoil heaps began in 1976.

A newly opened Visitor Centre offers a warm welcome with refreshments, information and toilet facilities. For the keen fisherman day tickets are available from the Water Bailiff.

Whether you’re a keen cyclist or a family out for a cycle ride you are well catered for in the park. The National Cycle Route runs through the park and The Mansfield Timberland Trail is available for walking or cycling.

Spectacular views can be enjoyed from the tops of the reclaimed spoil heaps.
