Two special visitors:

On Sunday 3rd August 2008, whilst at Fort Paull, we were visited by  Harry Davey and his wife, Doris. They were first loves when younger.... but another military man, Jack Osbourne - who was in the Merchant Navy - whisked Doris off her feet and they were married and had a family. Doris also did her bit for the country by serving in the Naafi during war time. Unfortunately and sadly Jack was killed in action.

Harry, who also later married, was in the 1st-5th Welsh Regiment A Company during WW2. He was at Normandy on D-Day, but after being shot and wounded was sent home to England to recover.  The company Harry served alongside were wiped out the night Harry was wounded, otherwise this may be a different story.

Eleven years ago a family member managed to get Harry & Doris in touch again with each other. They married two years later and have now been married nine years. Harry is 90 years old and of course you never reveal a ladies age.

We felt very honoured to meet them both.
