The Chaucer School, Sheffield

In December 2007 we were asked to help out with an event at the Chaucer Comprehensive School in Sheffield.  Children at the school had been studying World War II, so we were invited to bring along a selection of militaria and 1940s memorabilia to display for the children to look at.  Some of our re-enactors gave talks about the war, and the roles of the French Resistance and the Salvation Army.

The school had also decided to hold a christmas party for elderly people, with the children acting as hosts.  The event had been advertised in the local press and had been heavily over-subscribed by elderly citizens wanting the chance to come along and meet the children.  A number of veterans attended the event, and were very keen to tell us of their experiences, as we were keen to listen.  The event was a huge success and enjoyed by all who were there.
