MEET SOME MEMBERS

Chris and Mary Wildey

Live in: Norwich
Re-enacting WWII since:
Not stated
Re-enacts as: German General and RAF Officer(Chris); Civilian (Mary)
Professions: Delivery Driver (Chris); Retail (Mary)

Chris says: "We got into reenacting by coincidence.

"We had planned to go to the 'Revival' meeting at Goodwood where period costume is encouraged. I was thinking of hiring an RAF uniform, but at about the same time a friend was organising his birthday party as a fancy dress do with a military theme. So rather than hire a uniform I thought I might as well buy one from the local surplus store.  I ended up with a uniform of perfect fit with a Saville Row makers label inside!!!!!!

"Whilst Mary was assembling clothes we were told about Twinwood. Then we found out about all the other events, and its just gone on from there. Same old story as everybody else I suppose.

"I dress as a German because as anybody else who does will tell you, everybody says, no matter what you think, the Germans did have the smartest uniforms.

"Mine is made from a converted East German uniform. The badges are all reproduction. Individually, the sword and the boots cost more than the bare uniform.

"Mary has a mix of original clothes and many she has made herself. And lots of hats.

"We had been looking around for a group to join but didn't like the politics of many.  Northern Forties is ideal for what we want. Fun and Friends, without the politics
."
