WHAT CAN WE DO FOR YOUR EVENT?

PLEASE NOTE: Our diary for 2012 is currently full.  We are now taking bookings for 2013.  Please be advised there are a limited number of slots for events "for charities" that our members will do for free.  Also, we can no longer supply displays for events which are for ONE DAY only unless we have members living very close to your location.

Most re-enactment groups have members with sufficient collections to mount static displays/dioramas, or sufficient numbers of re-enactors to act a scenario as part of an event.

As a group, we have been working together since May 2007, though many of our re-enactors are experienced at this hobby and have been doing it for a few years longer.

With our experience and our collections, we are able to mount displays and scenarios where we can inter-act with members of the public/visitors.  We find this makes a more lasting impression on those visiting your event.

If you look below, you can see some of what we have to offer.

As re-enactors, we get invited to many events each year.  Please do not think we sit at home every weekend waiting for the phone to ring with an offer of an event to attend.  We don't!  We get invites to up to 6 or 8 events EACH WEEKEND of the season, and our members choose which events they wish to attend.  If you look at our Events Diary you will see what we have been invited to, and where our members may be going.

Re-enactment is an expensive hobby, both in terms of acquiring uniforms/kit/display items but also our travelling costs.  Our members live over a wide geographical area, and with the cost of petrol being what it is and the fact that some of our members attend events 2, 3 or even 4 weekends each month throughout the season, they will be shelling out hundreds of pounds of their own money on a constant basis.  Therefore, we will give preference to event organisers willing to pay towards our attendance costs.  If you want us to attend your event, simply telling us it exists and is free for us to enter may not be enough to entice us from other long-established events our members are already committed to.  If you want to guarantee our appearance at your event, as with many other groups such as ours, you may have to consider paying us a fee.  Costs will depend on what you would like - ranging from a small static display (priced from a minimum £300) to the Mowag or pram collections (see below) - to what is actually available on the weekend of your event.   All costs are negotiable.

In addition, you must also be aware that most of our diary for the year is set and agreed as early in March of each year.  Therefore, you are strongly advised to make your booking enquiry at least 6 months BEFORE your event.  If you leave it till 4 weeks before your event, it is highly probable we will not be able to agree to supply anything other than a few members to walk around your venue.

If you want to talk to us about what we can do for your event, please contact Mark Anthony Craig on 0774 607 3914 or email northernforties@gmail.com.

RAF

Since 2009, we have had an RAF pilot display.  Now led by Steve Roberts and Malcolm Tyas, they have a growing collection of RAF memorabilia which can be displayed on tables at events or an outside dispersal area.

CAPTURED GERMAN HEINKEL BOMBER PILOTS

We are one of the few groups to offer downed German Heinkel Bomber Pilots who can be arrested and escorted past your event visitors.   We can supply military personnel to escort Mark or Jon through your event, or you can ask other Allied re-enactors (even civilians with pitch-forks!) to do the deed.

GERMAN LUFTWAFFE PILOTS IN CAMP

We are one of the few groups who do a static camp display of Luftwaffe pilots.  This display includes some very rare equipment which is usually only seen under glass in museums.

If you are interested in joining us as a German Luftwaffe pilot, ground crew or other, please get in touch.

FRENCH RESISTANCE

We have a new sub-group set up to portray French Resistance.  Our members do FFI (Forces Français à l'Intérieur), FFE (Forces Français à l'Extérieur) and Vichy (yes even some Vichy resisted in their own way!).  Bob French owns a post-war Mowag vehicle, which is very close to the kind of radio receiving vehicles used by the Germans and French police to trace Resistance members calling or receiving messages from England.

You can find out more on our French Resistance Group's own pages.

VINTAGE PRAMS & PUSHCHAIRS

Alex Parsons has a collection of period prams that is quite unique and attracts a lot of attention when she brings them to our events.  Alex usually brings one or two to most events, but can bring her whole collection to your event.

You can find out more about Alex and  her collection.

WOMENS LAND ARMY

Carol Davis, Adele Kobic, Kathryn Bailey and others in our group have now put together a popular display which celebrates and remembers the role of the Womens' Land Army. Find out more about Angels in the Fields.

CLASSIC VEHICLES

Some of our members own classic motors including this splendid classic 1937 Ford 8 7Y which can be brought to some events.  Do you have a VIP who needs to be transported?  Is Winston Churchill visiting your event and does he need to show up in style?  Or are you a film or television company who needs an extra vehicle in some establishing shots?  Meanwhile, the 101st Airborne unit have a jeep, in which to take away their arrested suspects.

1940s VOCAL ENTERTAINER & DJ

Pete Jones sings 20s, 30s and 40s including songs by Miller, Dorsey, Goodman and Sinatra.  He also can perform as a DJ to make any event go with swing. All your favourite songs.  (You can contact Pete individually by phone 0114 230 7567 or email peterb@boltons.co.uk

ROYAL NAVY DISPLAY

Alan and Joy Lewis have a popular collection of display material relating to the Royal Navy during WWII, including HMS Royal Oak, the brave men of Staffordshire who won the Victoria Cross and George Cross and the amazing work done by the WRNS.
Did you know that during WWII, towns and cities all over the country sponsored warships, making collections to pay for ships to be built and equipped?

RUSSIAN SPETSNAZ SNIPERS AND RECONNAISSANCE

New for 2012 is a team of Russian snipers with their display of uniforms, kit, equipment and weapons.

TRADITIONAL ACCORDION MUSIC

Miriam Umpleby not only brings an old traditional accordion to some shows, she is also very good at playing it.  If you have an event where you would like some authentic music, Miriam would be only too happy to oblige.
