Our thanks go to everyone who came to our Halfpenny at War event in 2011 and made it such a success.  We know how much you all enjoyed it, so we're doing it again!

The war is returning to Wolverhampton’s Halfpenny Green Airport, on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th May, 2012.  Displays will be featured between and inside the hangars of this former wartime airfield. Halfpenny Green is also known as Wolverhampton Airport, and is located at Bobbington Stourbridge, DY7 5DY.

As before, this is not an exclusively Northern Forties only event - if your group wants to come along to join in with the fun, you are more than welcome to do so. All re-enactment groups with static displays and military vehicle owners are invited to join us to make this a major attraction in the area.

We welcome Allied and Axis forces (no SS or Japanese), period civilians and Womens Land Army to come along and muck in for the weekend.

Here is a list of what will be at the event:

  • Military & Period Vehicles (MVT applications welcome)

  • Allied and Axis encampments

  • Displays of wartime weapons, equipment and uniforms

  • Wartime songs from Lola Lamour, Miss Marina Mae, The Forces Sweethearts and Paul Casper

  • Memorabilia, militaria, vintage clothing and trade stalls

  • Original WW2 hangers, control tower and buildings

  • Spitfire seen in the film "Pearl Harbour" on display

  • Hurricane seen in the film "Battle of Britain" on display

  • Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Flypast applied for

Please note, this is a display event and is intended for groups and individuals who have period militaria and civilian displays to show to the public.

Admission for members of the public and re-enactors not part of a displaying group will be £6 adults; £4 children under 16; £4 senior citizens.  FREE ENTRY for Veterans and children under the age of 6.

Free entry to re-enactors with static displays and/or appropriate period vehicle.

INFORMATION FOR NON-DISPLAYING RE-ENACTORS: Non displaying re-enactors who attend on Saturday and pay entry fee will be allowed to return free of charge on Sunday.  As a concession, we are able to offer FREE space for your caravan/camper van/tent on site next to the car park.  If you wish to take advantage of our free camping offer, please use the Camping Request for Non-Displayers Form below.

EXCLUSIVE!!!

SATURDAY EVENING HANGAR DANCE WITH THE OCKBROOK BIG BAND IS BACK TOO, AND LOLA L'AMOUR.

The event includes optional Saturday evening hangar dance/entertainment with light supper.

Entrance fee £15 per person includes cost of light supper and must be booked in advance.
