1.Breakfasts:
Please let us know what preferences you have for breakfast. The basic rule is ask
and we will see what we can do. Please let us know if you are vegetarian –
this is not a problem! Please feel free to help yourself to tea, coffee,
drinking chocolate, fruit juices and light snacks whilst you’re here. We’ll
point you in the right direction on arrival.
2. Eating Out: There are
numerous restaurants and takeaways in Biggin Hill. It is a 10 minute walk into the centre.
There are loads of pubs around which serve excellent food – THE KING’S ARMS
at Leaves Green and THE OLD JAIL at the bottom of
Jail Lane
are especially recommended. If you don’t want to stagger too far, the BLACK
HORSE is only 200 metres away and the landlord Glenn is very friendly.
For
pilots and aircrew, please do not hesitate to ask to be picked up and delivered
back to the terminal building at BHA.
3. Local Attractions: There are
quite a few interesting places to visit in the vicinity. DOWN
HOUSE is only 10 minutes away. CHARTWELL
is 30 minutes and there is a good bus service (No 246). Local animal sanctuary FOAL
FARM is only a 15 minute walk. The
BATTLE OF BRITAIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL is well worth a visit and if you have a
car,
HEVER
CASTLE
and
SQUERRYES COURT
are easy journeys. Local walks are excellent and we have all the maps!
4. Public Transport: The 320 and
246
buses go every 15 minutes to BROMLEY. Trains from BROMLEY SOUTH to the centre of
London
are very frequent. The R2
and R8
are “sprinter” buses to ORPINGTON Station. (Every 30 minutes). The 246 also
goes to WESTERHAM (every 30 minutes). See Transport
for London website for full details of routes and timings.
Finally, if you do not have a mobile phone and
you need to make any urgent calls let us know and we can sort this out
for you. Sorry about the NO SMOKING – outside it is, I’m afraid!
