This help file is based around the main sections of the RouterLog screen as listed below.

Main status screen

Installation

There is no default installer but it is probably recommend that you unzip all files into a folder called routerlog in your program files folder. Then create a shortcut to routerlog.exe on your desktop or in your start menu. Then read through the rest of this help file and run the program making whatever changes to settings you require.

Upgrades

To upgrade the software with a newer version simply shutdown the software and copy the new version over the top of the old. If there is a readme included in the distribution archive, read this before upgrading.

Session Options

Stop Session

If clicked stops RouterLog from communicating with the router and changes to a 'Start session' button which will reconnect with the router.

Auto-Start session when launched

If checked will auto connect to router when RouterLog is loaded

Router Address

IP address for Router (normally 192.168.123.254

Admin Password

Admin password for router to enable connection

Refresh Rate

How often RouterLog connects to router for updates (in seconds)

Log/Alert Preferences

Alert on intrusion (play 'intruder.wav')

If checked RouterLog will play an alert sound if it detects an attempted intrusion. To change the sound simply place the wav file of your choice in the same directory as RouterLog and rename it to intruder.wav

Log intrusion only

If checked the only entries written to the log file are those concerning attempted intrusions

Log to File

If checked the logged entries will be written to a file called router.log in the same directory as RouterLog.exe. This is a plain text file and may be viewed with notepad

Run animation until click

If checked the icon in systray will continue to flash after an attempted intrusion until clicked

Remember last date/time

If checked program will remember when it was last run to avoid duplicate entries in the log

Hide

Minimize to systray

Shutdown

Close and exit RouterLog

Launch at Windows startup

If checked Routerlog will startup with windows.

Status

Shows current RouterLog activity (Waiting... or Getting Content...)

Get it Now

Force RouterLog to connect to router immediately to get content

Clear Screen

Clears log window

External program

Launch with this

Parameter (normally IP address) to pass to external program. Double clicking on an ip in the log window will insert it into this window.

Autofill with intruder address

If checked RouterLog will auto fill with IP address of last detected intrusion attempt

Auto Launch Application

If checked RouterLog will run the chosen External program on every detected intrusion attempt

Choose External Program

Opens a dialogue box where you can select the external program to run on detected intrusion attempts
