A meeting between the French and British Defence secretaries took place on Wednesday 9th June aboard the  carrier. The French defence Secretary arrived aboard the ship in Air Force AS.532 Cougar 2235/FZ, with Army AS.532 2446/CYD in support. Geoff Hoon arrived in Sea King HC.4 ZF119?/VW, with Sea King AEW 7 ZE418/R186 already being in place on the flight deck prior to his arrival. As a back drop for the official speeches were 899 Sqn Sea Harrier F/A.2 ZE692/718  along with Rafale No 9.
Note Super Etendard No 28, was placed below deck not long after the arrival of the ship in Stokes Bay on the Monday morning. The two Panthers and the Super Frelon were on and off the ship at various times during the visit.
