The character apartment in our large house offers an ideal year-round base to enjoy the haute Languedoc National Parc and surrounding areas.

 

It also affords reasonable access (50km) to the beaches of the Mediterranean.

 

The house is located centrally in the historic town of  St. Pons de Thomieres.

 

The town is situated in a valley in the heart of the beautiful national parc surrounded by mountains, lakes, rivers, forests and woodland.

 

The apartment comprises the whole of the 1st floor and consists of 5 double bedrooms (1-ensuite), wc/shower room, large kitchen and large lounge.  The rental options are to rent 2 (sleeps 4), 3 (sleeps 6) or all 5 bedrooms (sleeps 10).

 

 

The large kitchen is very well equipped including microwave, large stainless steel smeg 6-ring hob and oven, stainless steel smeg dishwasher, large refrigerator and freezer, large dining table seating up to 10, toaster, cafeteria, kettle etc. A courtesy pack will be available on arrival.

 

The kitchen has French doors opening up onto a balcony overlooking a quiet square and enjoys a sunny south-acing aspect.

 

A washing machine and tumble dryer are provided.

 

The house is over 200 years old and incorporates features of the previous , now unused, church of St. Martin to give this accommodation quite a medieval atmosphere.

 

The “chapel” Gothic-style double master bedroom enjoys character features including high arched gothic ceiling, arched windows, atmospheric lighting and original quarry-filled floor.

 

The apartment is very comfortably furnished with a mixture of contemporary and antique furniture. One of the remaining bedrooms has a double bed (1 en-suite), the other three two single beds each.  All bedrooms are tastefully decorated. The large lounge provides a place to relax with its Louis IV Sofas. The lounge is equipped with DVD/VCR/TV (Large widescreen), Hi-Fi Music System and Fire Place (not currently in use).  Cots can be provided including a wooden crib for infant. DVDS/Videos, Games and toys for infants can be provided by arrangement.

Local Attractions and Activities (<10 miles)

*  Lac Raviege , 10km north. The lake offers a wide variety of water sports including kayak hire, pedalos, small-motorised boats, windsurfing etc. There is a bar and restaurant at the Lac. There is also a man made beach and the lake offers a surprisingly warm alternative to the Mediterranean.

*  Valley and River Orb, 12km east for fishing, canoeing, kayaking and sightseeing.

*  Forest, Mountains, Wild Hills on the doorstep (hiking and walking). Click here for a 360 panoramic view of the terrain.

*  Capestang , 20km. The nearest point to the Canal du Midi, ideal for a gentle stroll in the shade of the trees watching the activities on the water. The restaurant near the bridge is worth a visit. There are several restaurants and bars around the square, where the locals play petanque. Barge and boat hire also available.

*  The very picturesque medieval historic town of Olargues (12km) set below the impressive Caroux Mountains.

*  Deveze Caves,  Courniou Les Grottes, magnificent and huge

*  Meze - Scenic Mediterranean fishing village with picturesque marina, small beach on the edge of the Etang de Thau (Lake) fed by the waters of the Mediterranean sea supplying the vast oyster beds that are on full view. With a wealth of seafood restaurants specialising in shellfish. A popular destination for most of our guests.

Terms and Conditions of Rental

 

  1. Deposit payable 3 months in advance, balance to be paid on first day of rental
  2. The rental is inclusive of electricity, water and gas costs.
  3. There is no landline phone. However mobile phone reception is good for most operators e.g. Orange. There is a telephone kiosk within 30m of house (0033467972735)
  4. Bed Linen and Towels will be provided and replaced weekly
  5. The cost to replace any breakages, damages will be deducted from the deposit.
  6. No pets
  7. No smoking inside the house (permitted on balcony).
