The Grim & Havelock Association

The Grim and Havelock Association predominantly had been established with the hopes of enabling Charles Whistler's novel of 'Havelok the Dane,' to be finally re-published as a special millennium project by way of a lottery grant. The Association is a non-profit sharing organisation that was founded and constituted in December 1999 fundamentally established mainly for the object of:

a. the investigation, study and recording of the legend of Grim and Havelock;

b. the ensuring, as far as possible, the widest awareness of the Grim and Havelock legend, and access to and the distribution of research material available about the same;

c. providing a focus and material on legendary folk-heroes and lore, specific to the region formerly known generally, as Lincolnshire.

The Grim and Havelock Association will be actively ensuring that this site is regularly updated from this time forward. We will be making research and important relevant background historical information freely available. A number of new publications, including children's books are planned, and animation and film projects are also envisaged. The Association will be seeking local and world-wide membership and intend to forge and renew strong British, European, and international links to ensure that this classic legend does not disappear into the obscurity of our past, but lives on anew, no longer threatened by misrepresentation, historical inaccuracy, prejudice, apathy or simple plain neglect. We intend to ensure that the legend takes its rightful place as part of our shared heritage.
