The Grim and Havelock Association predominantly had been established with the hopes of enabling Charles Whistler's novel of 'Havelok the Dane,' to be finally re-published as a special millennium project by way of a lottery grant. The Association is a non-profit sharing organisation that was founded and constituted in December 1999 fundamentally established mainly for the object of: a. the investigation, study and recording of the legend of Grim and Havelock; b. the ensuring, as far as possible, the widest awareness of the Grim and Havelock legend, and access to and the distribution of research material available about the same; c. providing a focus and material on legendary folk-heroes and lore, specific to the region formerly known generally, as Lincolnshire.
