| There used to be a mystery with the
middle name of Minnie: Birkett. This name also appears as a
middle name of Frederick Birkett Gorbould (a cousin of Minnie).
Through this web site, two independent researchers contacted me
in January 2004 and both identified that an Eliza Rumbelow emigrated
from England to Australia in 1852 and then married Matthew Birkett
in 1853. Thank you to John Rumblow and Lesley Avery.
The above photograph, including one of Matthew and Eliza, were in
the possession of Olive Gorbould when they were uncovered by our
research. Matthew Birkett has now taken his rightful place in
the family tree. Eliza was a great aunt to both Minnie and
Frederick. |
