Gorbould Family

The Gorbould/Gorbold family name appears to originate from the  Wroxham St. Faith parish, in Norfolk, UK.  The name is still quite rare in the UK, which has helped to trace it.

In my immediate family line, the name has not continued.  The name does still exist in the Wroxham area, but we have not yet established the connection.

Furthermore, the name does exist in the Newcastle area.  We have been able to connect this branch to our own, and have determined that a James Gorbould moved from Norfolk to Newcastle some time around 1873.  This link was established by cross-referencing against the on-line 1901 census.

This branch is closely linked to the Rumbelow name.

Ebenezer Gorbould and Eliza (Nee Rumbelow)

Ebenezer had several occupations.  In about 1904, he was the landlord of a public house in Roydon, Norfolk.
