Osiris, Egyptian god of resurrection, rebirth and god of the afterlife was one of the principle deities and myths of the ancient religion. With his wife Isis and his son Horus they were the foundation of the ‘Triad’ beliefs. Usually depicted wearing the white shroud of a mummy and having a green or black face, colours of death, rebirth and of fertility. Black for the black fertile Nile soil and green for the lush growth this supported.
Osiris was also the judge of the dead who resided over the weighing of the deceased heart against the feather of Maat.
