In real life... Visiting Lecturer in Medieval History/Warfare at the Tales of Robin Hood visitor attraction in Nottingham. Also working as technical advisor on historical films.
Biography: Richard is a former Army officer who took his Military History Degree in hospital after an encounter with several very unsympathetic people carrying firearms. He credits this with keeping him sane. Having left the Army after several more encounters with equally unsympathetic people, (he decided it was time to get out before somebody got it right), he took his Master's Degree. His principal thesis was on Muscle Powered warfare, which kicked off his hobby of hitting people with bits of steel. During this period Richard developed an interest in fight choreography, working with the BASSC on their firearms curriculum, his philosophy that the more people he taught to use firearms, the fewer would actually shoot at him, and was for a short period of time a fight choreography assitant at RADA.
Recently Richard completed a lecture and instruction tour in the United States.
In his spare time Richard has also attained BHS1 level in showjumping, is a climber, (although his technique tends to consist mainly of dangling from a belay and screaming) and is a qualified pilot.
