Tutbury Castle, 27th July 2003

Not strictly a Falchion event, but we provided a variety of entertainment, not just a fight display and presentation. As can be seen from this collection, it was...well...different!

Amongst our repertoire were juggling, pirate treasure hunts, our own (historically accurate and researched in the finest detail) telling of the tale of St George and the Dragon - including all the familiar elements such as the baby dragon (a sequel hook if ever there was one), damsel not quite in distress, the hapless jester, the evil king of France (masquerading as Oliver Cromwell) and of course, the Swedish/MittleEuropean chef...

And not forgetting a fight demo and presentation in the Three Shires arena involving Nick and Jim fighting bardiche against sword and shield, then sword and shield against each other, then with two-handed weapons. Nick then fought Clare with sword and poinard against sword and buckler. The bout was decided by a headbutt. Nick beat Clare. For once.

Three Shires organised the Kids Battle using pipe lagging swords, The Dread Pirate Mitchell gave a bullwhip demonstration, and last but not least, Squirrel Rounders.

The aim of Squirrel Rounders is for the blatter (armed with a warhammer) to attempt to hit the incoming projectile squirrel. The aim for the squirrel is to retrieve his cache of nuts, which it has been convinced are on the person of the blatter.

All in all, a good laugh, and as usual, the Sun Gods shone when we put our hot armour on...
