Three Wheat Sheaves, Lenton

21st April, 2003

A bank holiday monday, and the weather was great!

As part of the Three Wheat Sheaves' St George's Day celebrations (OK, we were a couple of days early, but Wednesday was a bit impractical), Alec and the staff laid on Bombadier beer at a pound a pint, as well as the Team Falchion show, face-painting for the kids, and a bouncy castle.

As this was our first show of the new season, we decided to try out two shows that consisted of a mixture of display-fighting, tuition sessions, and education for the crowd. With Richard, James and Nick taking turns as MC, we showed the public how we go about training our new recruits - Mark had been in the team only a month, and this was his first show, and the photo sequence involving Mark and Clare was the first time he'd used a sword and buckler together, and the first time he'd been taught about using attacks other than with the sword, so the crowd were seeing real training in progress!

Fighters on the day: Clare, Emma, James, Mark, Nick, Richard and Theo
