One of my hobbies in recent years has been to trace my ancestry and to this end have links to several thousand cousins. It started off as a passing interest to complete a family tree of parents, grandparent and great grandparents, but now goes back to the late seventeenth century on several lines. It encompassed many cousins, their marriages and their parents on both sides, but with well over twenty thousand individuals, became nightmarish updating regularly and with new data arriving several times daily, the updates were becoming too frequent and time consuming, so I have cut the database down to a more manageable size and it only has a about six and a half thousand names completed. This allows me to more easily concentrate on my own family, rather than everyone else's.
The other concern came about from numerous queries from people, who for want of nothing better to do, sent emails requesting information about a possibility of a link of people they did not know the name of, their location or for that matter, anything resembling fact. So it is with this thought that I request you view the information on these pages, find if you are related in some way, and if you are and would like some information, or wish to furnish me with some details, that you give me all the relevant details about the person such as the full name, locations and dates of birth, marriage and death, how they relate to you, and any other relevant information. Then, not only will I know what you already know about the person, but also whether I have some information not published. A word of warning though, if the person is deceased and the date is entered, or the date of birth is before 1900, so the likelihood is that the person is dead, yet there are no notes visible, then it is likely that is all I know of the person in question, but I might have some photographs or census records available (or at least some links).
There are two main sites where my family tree is held. These services both offer features that may well help the user find links to further their research. My personal favourite is Gencircles which shows researches of other people and they may have more information about an individual that I have. The other one that I regularly upload my family tree information to is Rootsweb and you should be able to find additional resources to add to your own information from these two sites. One useful site is the LDS site which contains the 1880 US Census, and the 1881 England & Wales and Canadian censuses, which is particularly useful for my researches. For the UK 1901 census you need to link to the Public Records Office. If you will to view the transcripts or details about people, be warned that the minimum fee is £5 per session, with the individual images being 50p or 75p
In addition, for those that are interested, I have created My Family Tree which holds very reduced number of direct ancestors, but also has photographs of some people. For this reason, please note that this area has just been started and will take awhile to upload the many hundred photographs available. If I get that far!
