The London based Band are, Garven 'G' Nestor (Guitar/vocals), 'November' Nick Harvey (Bass/vocals) & Steve Johnston (Drums/vocals). The Guys have many years of experience between them having played in various bands working not only the length and breadth of England, but also in Spain, France, Holland and Ireland. 'G' Nestor who hails from the town of Athlone in Ireland is an 'ex-name' having most notably played with Thin Lizzy's Eric Bell amongst others.
Nick and Steve are native North Londoners. They cut their teeth playing the many clubs and bars the City has to offer, whilst also touting themselves around 'Studio-land' backing various artists on many recording-sessions over the years.
Although originally a family act (hence the name) the current line-up was completed with the arrival of 'G' on Guitar & Vocals in December of 2007, replacing Steve's brother Martin, who decided to leave to pursue a song-writing career (Martin has his own Web-site which can be accessed here). G's natural passion for live performance coupled with his virtuosity on the Guitar has made him a very welcome addition to the Band, and also a firm favourite with audiences around the Country!
The Band's wealth of experience has been rewarded recently with some high profile work including a celebrity wedding and a prestigious show at The Emirates stadium , London hosted by star of T.V. & radio, Comedian John Culshaw. The Show also featured Chas & Dave and was attended by many Stars from the 'World of Entertainment' including esteemed actor Robert Powell, and also Radio l's Chris Moyles.
The Boys gained much critical acclaim with the release of their first album 'The Water of Life', which whilst featuring four original songs, was very much a tribute to the artists who have influenced them, including Buck Owens, Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, Fats Domino, Alan Jackson and The Saw Doctors. The Title Track was written by, and features Paul Johnston (eldest of the Brothers) on Lead Vocals, who sadly passed away in 2004, ironically only a couple of months before the release of the Album in 2005. The Album is dedicated to Paul's memory.
The Water of Life gained much airplay and attention from D.J.'S and Presenters Country-wide resulting in several guest-spots on various shows including 'Gerry Byrne's Show' on The Irish Spectrum Radio and also 'Henry Wymbs Show' on The BBC. These 'unplugged' spots helped to establish their reputation as a band that can definitely 'Cut the Cake' live! Excerpts from some of these Live Broadcasts may be accessed from the downloads page.
Some of you may have been fortunate enough to see the expanded lineup of the Band which features top session players Eoin Mackie and Jac Jones on Piano and Sax respectively. 'Eoin and Jac are old friends of ours', says Steve, and they're always delighted to sit in when the opportunity presents itself, for example at the larger venues or functions.
So, the long-awaited Second Album is now well on the way to completion and will be a more definitive work in-so-far as it will feature a lot more of the original songs that have been introduced to the repertoire over the past couple of years. 'We like to try out new songs at live shows before deciding whether or not they are good enough to make the final cut', says Nick, |1 always think it's better to know up-front whether you've written a good song or a 'turkey' and audience-reaction is always the best barometer for that! , he concludes.
Manager Marty Walsh is a veteran of the Music Business himself and has been at the helm since the Band's formation in 2002, so please feel free to contact him on 020-7277-1293 or 07944-010729 for any enquiries or further information.
