Shelduck

Shelduck

Rather a large duck, almost goose sized in fact. They appear each Spring in quite large numbers on the low lying grassy areas surrounding the numerous freshwater ponds though they seem to spend more time out of the water than in it.. They like to feed on the short grassed fields and are often seen in fields quite some distance from any open water.
