People either love them or hate them. Some people detest them and hold them to blame for the decline of the White Headed Duck through hybridisation in Spain. Personally I like to see them around on the local ponds as they add a splash of colour and have an endearing habit when stationary on the water of rapidly bobbing their heads up and down while emitting an extended grunt. Several pairs arrive each Spring and stay for the Summer after breeding. |
