Bullfinch

Bullfinch

Magnificent looking with a rather apt name for this rotund looking bird. They are not found in great numbers in the immediate area in which I live, where they are only occasionally seen despite the striking colouring of the male. These ones were all photographed at Thornley Woodland Centre on the River Derwent where they have always been one of the most numerous birds at the feeding station on my visits in February.
