Goldeneye

Goldeneye

This diving duck is a Winter visitor. They are few in numbers in this region, but a delight to see. A female has been in residence on Cowpen Pond since early February, where the photo above was taken. It seems unperturbed by the presence of humans, as this one continued diving right in front of where I was sat for over twenty minutes. The male, shown below was sighted at Low Barns Reserve at around the same date where it shared the West Pond with a Ring Necked Duck.
