Long Tailed Tit |
|
These are curious looking little birds, also known as a ‘Tit Mouse’. They look like balls of fluff with overly long tails always in groups of half a dozen or more. They never seem to cease moving, always hopping from branch to branch, often in dense bushes with numerous branches, such as the Hawthorn. You can often hear them before you see them, by their high pitched squeaking voices. They are mini acrobats, hanging upside down from the thinnest of twigs whilst searching for food. We have never had them in the garden, but they can usually be found in the surrounding countryside either in the hedges or at feeding stations taking peanuts. |
