This site has been created for members of Bolton Olympic Wrestling Club and anyone who has an interest in amateur freestyle wrestling. The site was inspired by Eddy Kavanagh and put together by myself, Neil Pilling, with a lot of help from my friends. The address is rather long (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ngpilling/index.htm) so a simpler link www.beam.to/bowc has been established. A pop up advert has suddenly appeared with this link but they do provide the link free. If you find this annoying you can always save the longer address to favorites.
A special thanks goes to John Mortimer, the British Wrestling Association website manager and photographer. He has provided advise on content, sorted out things that didn't work and provided me with photos of club members that have not been published on the BWA site. In fact the photo on this page was provided by John. The site contains several areas and I hope you find them interesting. They include:
Contact page - how to contact BOWC and where it is
Email list - to build a contact list to inform people
interested in the site of new developments
Events page - giving information about forthcoming events
Forum - up to the minute news - have your say
History page - just a brief history of free style wrestling
at the moment but open to further development
Info page - providing some information about the benefits
and rules of amateur wrestling
just
added dietary information
Links - to other amateur wrestling sites and sites of interest
News page - providing news and stories from club members
Picture pages - this will grow and grow as the club progresses
from competition to competition
Results page - this goes back to the year 2000 and will grow and grow
Training page - giving training times and brief profiles of the
coaches active in training the club's young wrestlers
new
section under training - Training Tips
Workout - a fun page for young and old (never knew Bush had moves like that!)
There is of course room for improvement. Profiles on past and current members who have distinguished themselves for the club would be a development of the History page. It may be that a profile page can be introduced to include team members and current members. I was wrestling (sorry about the pun) with a forum page (and not getting very far I might add) but Shaun Trencher stepped in and took control. Since then, after one or two little problems such as their server experiencing difficulties, the BOWC Forum has been a success.
So any ideas, information, comments etc on how to improve the site are gratefully received. Please email me at:
