Report:
This game two weeks seemed to be vital to calverton but their surprising defeat last week meant the pressure was off for both teams, hopefully we will be playing them next season if we get promoted.
Before kick-off a nice gesture by their management meant two bottles of bubbly for the kids to spray over everyone after the game.
It was played in a relaxed atmosphere knowing that all the teams had to play for in the last game of the season was pride.
We didn’t disgrace ourselves and for long periods of the first half were the better side, we created a few chances their goalie made three good saves ,ryan had only one save in the last five minutes he cleared it with his feet but unfortunately came to a calverton player on the edge of the box who shot into an empty net.
We carried on as we had started in the first half and it was no surprise when tom staples equalized with a fine effort, we always looked the more likely to score , our goalie liam did make a fine save to force a corner. When we did have to defend we cleared our lines quickly the midfield continued to battle and at the end we just couldn’t get the winner we deserved.
Well done both teams for a fine season.
