Report:
The last time we played vernon 5 weeks ago we played poorly and scored in the last minute to equalize, today the conditions(firm ground0 suited us better. We started off slowly it took us 6 or 7 minutes t osettle, after that we created 3 or 4 good chances to take the lead, we lobbed to goalie only for one oftheir defenders to clear it offthe line. We also saw one of the best saves this season by their goalie who dived full y to clear, we had a couple of shots that went just wide.
Vernon did have a couple of half chances on the whole we did defend well.
In the second half and kicking down hill we should have been able to score if we continued to play as we had been in the 1st half, but we didn’t when we had time on the ball we wasted it and didn’t really get going although we did battle well in windy conditions. The only goal came from a couple of our defenders not clearing it properly, the ball fell to their forward who lobbed the goalie from 10 yards.
We still kept going forward their goalie made a couple of good saves and we shot wide on another two occassions. It was going to be one of those days when we should have scored five and ended up losing. Special praise today to cormac who chased and fought well in midfield
