Report:
Orange were unable to extend their unbeaten run at West Bridgford after conceding a goal in the first minute. West Bridgford, who seemed content to kick the ball up the field to their lone striker were quite a handful for the Orange defence. Orange were not able to impose their flowing style in a game which was, at times, hindered by a strong side wind and a small pitch.
Chances for Orange were few and hopes were raised when Ryan, who had turned the defender, was fouled on the edge of the box. Up stepped Ben whose superb strike was well saved by the keeper.
West Bridgford pressed and their pressure was again rewarded when an unfortunate looping header was just outside Dan's outstretched arms and dropped in for west Bridgford to double their lead. Luke was unlucky when a great strike was brilliantly saved by thre keeper. Dan pulled off a further two excellent saves to keep the score at 2-0 at the interval. He then unfortuately sustained an injury and Ben had to pull on the goalie's jersey. Elliott took up Ben's position at left back and worked hard with Macauley.
Hopes for a second half fightback were high based on their recent performances at Keyworth and against Kimberley and it was Brad who skipped around three players and struck the ball just wide of the target from the kick off. Orange did have more chances during the second half and Brad and Luke both just missed the target after some good work.
West Bridgford, though, improved their lead when Ben's goal kick was intercepted by their striker who fired the ball in from long range to put the game out of Orange's reach.
Orange carried on and Luke went close after his shot was just wide after he had worked some space down the left wing. Hayniey again showed some lovely touches operating on the left wing linking well with Brad and Aaron and showing that he is strong in the challenge as well. Orange stuck to their game plan showing how good a passing side they are and not resorting to long ball tactics but it was just not to be their day.
Orange can look forward to an encounter with Gedling Town Red on Wednesday when they will be hoping to avenge their earlier clash in the season when they lost to a cruel own goal after they had played some excellent football. after the game they will be taking a well earned break up to Easter.
