Report:
A close opening five minutes saw Netherfield take the lead, Connor forcing the ball home
after a goal area scramble before Priory equalized with another scrambled goal.
Netherfield upped the pace Aidan hitting the post and Joe also going close. Aidan had better luck minutes later,
producing an excellent lifted finish after lovely cross-field passing move. Joe forced the keeper into an excellent
save after a superb run down the left hand side before producing a brilliant long-range effort, which gave the
Priory Celtic keeper no chance. Matthew made it 4-1 with probably the pick of the goals. Joe passed from
the left before Matthew played a lovely 1-2 with Aidan, side footing the return into the net. Matthew added
his second after cutting out a poor goal kick, hitting his shot into the top corner. Aiden, Joe, Scott and Matthew
all had very good chances but some very good goalkeeping from the Priory keeper kept it down to 5-1 at half time.
The second half was a completely different story. With Priory playing the better football and their keeper still
producing a string of fine saves, they scored three unanswered goals to set up a nail biting last few minutes.
But Netherfield held on thanks in part to an excellent late save from Steve and recorded a 5-4 victory.
This really was a game of two halves. The first half was our best half of the season, but the second half was well below par.
