The first game of the season saw take on a very strong Pegasus blue side.

Pegasus took an early lead and generally had the better of things for the first ten minutes. Netherfield came more into the game and were awarded a penalty kick but unfortunately Matthew blazed the spot kick over. Matthew made up for that miss five minutes later, when he blasted in the equaliser after the Pegasus defence half cleared a Joe shot. The goal changed the game. Netherfield looked more confident and started to get on top. Despite this the colts had to be content to go in 1-1 at half time. Aidan going close on a couple of occasions.

A few minutes after the restart Netherfield took the lead. Matthew played a good through ball to Joe who dribbled inside the box and slotted a left foot shot under the advancing keeper. Aidan quickly added a third with an excellent finish off the underside of the bar after Martin picked him out with a fine pass. Joe nearly added another but the Pegasus keeper produced a superb save.

Pegasus pulled a goal back. But Joe again surged forwards beating his marker and finishing well. Moment’s later Joe completed his hat trick. This time Danny played the perfect through ball and Joe produced another good finish.

Pegasus again pulled a goal back, an excellent finish on the break. Aidan, Tom and Martin all went close before debutante Connor added Netherfield’s sixth, side footing the ball into the corner after receiving a fine pass from Aiden. With three minutes remaining Pegasus pulled back another goal, but that was the end of the scoring. Netherfield winning 6-4.

Despite conceding four goals, Zack and Oliver had very good games at the back and Steve’s handling and ball collection was nearly faultless in goal.

This was a very good game, both teams playing good football. An excellent team performance, with everyone giving 100%. Lets hope we can keep it up!
