Apologies for the web-site being left un-updated for a while. My PC developed a hardware error, which PC World failed to fix, despite 3 engineers attending and sending it to their repairs centre. Finally they allowed me to replace it, so we are at last back online.

 PLAYERS PHOTOGRAPHS

To repeat an earlier message, photographs taken for use in the 2004-5 season are no longer available.  Club officials must ensure that new players have had their photograph taken this season.  Photos bearing 06 on a card for the “other” playing day cannot be used as they have been deleted.  I strongly suggest you take newly signed players to a photo-session.  The payment of £2.50 for the card is required at the photo-session.

EVIDENCE OF DATE OF BIRTH

To repeat earlier messages, records of players for 2004-5 have been deleted.  I therefore need a photocopy of the birth certificate for all players registering EXCEPT those who are currently registered for this season.

ISSUE OF REGISTRATION CARDS

As you are aware I send the weeks registrations to TYP promotions on a Wednesday evening.  The cards are printed off and delivered to me on Thursday morning.  I arrive home from work at 5:15pm.  The post has by then been collected from the post-box.  This means that I cannot get the cards into the post to Club Secretaries and managers (where s.a.e. has been included) until first thing Friday morning.

This can cause a problem for Saturday morning teams given the late delivery of post in some areas.

Accordingly I am considering shutting down data entry on Tuesday evening.  I can then get cards posted out in the first post on Thursday.

Please let me know whether you agree or not with the Tuesday “cut-off”.

COLLECTING CARDS

Cards can be collected from my house by prior arrangement.  Collection time is between 8 and 9 on a Friday and must be by prior arrangement.  Please ensure you contact me before the posting out deadline.

Closing down data entry on a Tuesday evening will give you and me an extra day to confirm that the cards are available.  Finally, one collector per club please – you will be helping your fellow managers.

TRANSFERS

Under FA Rules you are required to give the holding club seven days notice of approach.  This should be done by recorded delivery.  The transferring player should NOT sign the Transfer Form until the seven days have elapsed.

The seven day period is there to give the holding club the opportunity to speak to the player (and parents) to either convince him/her to remain or to request the return of any kit held.

After the seven days has elapsed the player may sign the transfer form, which is then submitted to me with along with the £5 fee.

I then send the form to the secretary of the holding club together with a stamped addressed envelope for the return of the form and the card.   I also e-mail the club secretary to advise that the form is in the post.

The form and the registration card must be returned to me within seven days of receipt, either approving the transfer or setting out any objection.  Please note that in the event of an objection the card must still be returned to me and the player MUST be advised of the reason(s) for objection.

When you speak to the holding club, as indeed you should, before the notice is issued, you may find that both clubs are prepared to “fast-track” the transfer.  If so the form may be completed in its entirety and submitted it to me, with the £5 fee and the registration card.

ERROR ON THE REGISTRATION CARD

If there is something wrong with a card (usually the wrong photo) the card must be returned to me with a covering note.   I cannot arrange for re-issue until I have received the incorrect card.

CALLING AT MY HOME

Please make sure this message gets through to your managers.

I have no problem with people ringing the doorbell and asking to speak to me so long as this is done by prior arrangement.  If you want to leave forms for me please don’t ring the bell just put them through the letterbox.

CUP, TROPHY AND SHIELD ELIGIBILITY

Please ensure that your managers are fully aware of the eligibility rules for the knockout competitions – particularly with regard to players transferred in and new players.

(1)     A player cannot play for more than one team in the YEL Knockout competitions in the same season.  He/she cannot play for a team in the cup AND the trophy.  BUT he/she can play for a Saturday team and a Sunday team in their respective knockout competitions.   Note that an un-used substitute is deemed not to have “played”

(2)     In the YEL a player must have been registered with the team two days before the original date of the fixture to be eligible to play in the knockout competition.  This means that so long as you hold the card for a new player on the day of the match, and it is the original date of the fixture (i.e. it is not a previously postponed game), he/she can play if otherwise eligible. Note that in the Notts FA Shield the player must have been registered with the team for seven days before the date of the fixture.

(3)     There are special rules for the semi-finals and the final, - “No player shall be eligible to play in semi-final or final unless he has played at least 3 (three) Cup/League matches for his team.”

Any team playing an ineligible player in a knockout match will be removed from the competition so it’s really important your managers check player eligibility.

I hope things are running smoothly for you.

Yours in Sport
