Self-Marking Tables Tests

Self-Marking Quizzes

Useful Websites

This page contains a series of templates for self-marking quizzes in Excel. Originally launched in October 2003 the number of templates has been growing since then to what you can see today. January 2004 has seen a complete relaunch of these items with more templates, a revised Teachers Guide and new Eco-Print system and assessment pages built into the quizzes. The Teachers Guide now provides more information on the changes and how to use them. The final addition has been the new Quiz Record Sheet which makes it easier ot keep track of when you have used each template.

Each of the current set of templates has ten questions with a specific number of possible answers to choose from. Each type is grouped together with a brief outline.

If you use a template to create a quiz that you think other teachers could use e-mail it to me and I'll add it to this page. Over time, I hope that this section of the site will contain quizzes on a range of subjects for a range of ability levels.

If you want a particular type of template that is not here e-mail me and I'll try to create a new template free of charge. Development time on each new template is fairly low because of the number I have already created. Each new template will be put up here and no charge will be made for special requests.

All of the templates have been created in Excel 2000 while the Teachers Guide was created in Word 2000.

A new addition, launching with Template Type 5, is a simple spreadsheet to record when you have used each template type with your pupils or students. The aim is to help you avoid using the same template so often that the children will learn the order of the correct answers.

Quiz Record Sheet

Template Type 1 - These templates all have ten questions. Each question has three possible answers and one one of them can be correct. Each template has the correct answers in a different order.

Template Type 3 - These templates all have ten questions. Each question has five possible answers. Seven of the questions have one correct answer and the other three have two correct answers. For questions with two correct answers the same answer in both boxes will not result in two marks. Each template has the correct answers in a different order.

Template Type 5 - These templates all have ten questions. Each question have five possible answers and two of them are correct. If the pupil puts the same answer is both boxes on the same question they will not score two marks. As I do not expect this template type to be very popular there will only be three Templates. Should you feel that this type merits the usual six versions please e-mail me and I will look into creating some more.
