"Nuts!" by Two Hour Wargames

Alternative re-inforcement table for British Armour

Having read through the "Nuts!" rules, several times, one of the things that struck me is that the tables for British Tank availability (On page 40 of the rules) are, in my view, inaccurately skewed towards the Sherman.

During 1944, the British Cromwell tank was pretty common - far more so than what this table would have you believe - in fact, the vast majority of 7th Armoured Division was equipped with the Cromwell, and indeed, all of the Armoured Recce Regiments of the British and Poles were made up of Cromwells (The Canadians used Shermans) until after Operation Bluecoat.
The following Tank Availability table was designed to reflect this:

1 BRITISH TANK AVAILABILITY 1944

1 = Stuart
2 = Cromwell
3 = Sherman
4 = Sherman Firefly
5 = Wolverine
6 = Lucky Dip (roll on the following table)

2
LUCKY DIP
(If you don't have a model for the vehicle generated
on this table, roll D6
1-3 = Sherman,
4-6 = Cromwell)

2 = Sherman
3 = Sherman Firefly
4 = Stuart
5 = Wolverine
6 = Sherman
7 = Sherman
8 = Cromwell
9 = Cromwell
10 = Sherman Firefly
11 = Achilles
12 = Churchill

OPTIONAL ARMOUR TROOP/PLATOON AVAILABILITY

As an option, once a tank has been generated, roll 1d6 each time another tank arrives:

  • 1-4 = Same type as before
  • 5-6 = Roll on Tank Availability for type

UK Tank Troops contained a mix of vehilces. Should the first tank to arrice be a Sherman Firefly, and "Same Type" is rolled for the next re-inforcement, roll 1d6.:

  • 1-3 = Sherman
  • 4-5 = Cromwell
If the last tank to arrive is NOT a Sherman Firefy, use these results for the d6 roll:
  • 1-2 = Sherman Firefly
  • 3-4 = same type as the last tank to arrive
  • 5-6 = Roll on Tank Availability
