A guide to how I painted my Street Violence Militia models
Unless otherwise stated, all paints used are acrylics.
- Undercoat
- The model is undercoated in matt black (I use a spray can of either Citadel Chaos Black, or car
body matt black primer)
- Camouflage Uniform
- The camouflage pattern is based on the four colour pattern used by the French for their European TOO
, an example of which is seen on the left.
The two models on the top were given a base colour of Tamyia 'Dark Yellow', whilst the two on
the bottom were given a base colour of Tamyia 'Khaki'. The pattern was then applied using the
Tamyia colours 'NATO Brown', 'NATO Green' and 'NATO Black'.
- T-Shirts
- The models on the top are wearing T-Shirts. These were painted dark green by first giving them a
base coat of Tamyia 'Black Green', followed by successive
drybrushed highlights of Humbrol 'Black Green' and
Humbrol 'Dark Green'.
- Berets
- The berets were given a base coat of Citadel 'Enchanted Blue', followed by drybrushed highlights of
Citadel 'Blue Grey' and Citadel 'Horizon Blue'.
- Webbing
- This was painted Coat D'Arms 'Jungle Green', and then drybrushed with Citadel 'Battle Green'.
- Weapons
- The metal areas on the weapons were given a basecoat of Citadel 'Boltgun Metal', followed by a wash
of Citadel 'Armour Wash'. The stocks of the MP5's were left black, whilst those on the
assault rifles were given a base coat of Tamyia 'Olive Drab' and then
drybrushed with Humbrol 'Olive Drab' to highlight.
- Boots
- These were given a drybrush of Humbrol 'Black Green' over the black undercoat.
- Flesh
- This was painted by starting with a basecoat of Citadel 'Dwarf Flesh', shading using a wash of
Citadel 'Flesh Wash', and finally drybrushing a highlight using Citadel 'Bronzed Flesh'.
- Basing
- The base was covered with PVA glue and then dipped in Sharp Sand. Once dry, it was given a
coat of Tamyia 'Flat Earth', followed by highlights of Citadel 'Bubonic Brown'
and Citadel 'Fortress Grey'. The base was then dabbed randonly with PVA glue and dipped in
flock.
- Varnishing
- The figures were varnished the figures using a single coat of Humbrol Gloss Cote, followed by a
single coat of Humbrol Matt Cote.
