Scenario - Fuel Dump Demolition

The attacking force's mission is to destroy an enemy fuel dump. A previous mission involving an attack by helicopters failed, and it is believed that prisoners may be held at the fuel dump. These prisoners must be rescued during the mission.

Opposing Forces

Attackers - 6 Special Forces (Elite), each armed with M16 assault rifles. 2 may carry M72 LAWs in addition to their rifle. 1 carries a bag containing demolition charges.
Defenders - 6 Troops (Professional), armed with AK47 assault rifles. 1 medium tank, with 2 machine guns.

All troops class as being self-motivated.

Terrain

Rolling hills (see map), with plenty of scrub dotted around to provide cover. The fuel dump (location 'B' on map) has several pallets containing fuel barrels. Other barrels are lying around, and there are 2 or 3 lean-to type tents in the immediate area.

Deployment

Attackers deploy at location 'A'. Defenders deploy at location 'B'. Two prisoners are also at location 'B'. These prisoners have both their hands and feet bound, and so cannot move at more than 3" per turn until freed.
After the first turn, the defender rolls 1D6 at the start of each of his turns. If the dice is less than the turn number, then the defender may deploy his tank at location 'C'. (i.e. the defender needs to roll 1 on turn 2, 1 or 2 on turn 3, and so on...)

Points

The attacker starts with 1000 points. The following amendments are made:

  • Each turn completed without the mission being completed: -10 Points
  • Each Attacker killed: -50 Points
  • Each Prisoner killed/not captured: -250 Points
  • Fuel Dump destroyed: +100 Points

Special Rules

It takes 1 complete turn to set the demolition charges for the fuel dump. They are on a timer, and go off after a further two turns. Any model with an 8" radius of the blast recieves 4 hits.
Prisoners may not be shot by the defender. They can, however, be used as human shields. Any shot fired at a defender who is using a prisoner in this way is randomised between the two targets.
