The chassis is fairly representative of a real
Caterham, with a spaceframe type structure. I have used a large
number of angle beams, and I am pleased with the results. Packaging
the differential, driveshafts and drive forward to the engine within the
structure, whilst keeping a good degree of strength, was very difficult,
but the end result is very strong, with lots of bracing. The roll-over bar is a
standard fitment to the Caterham. The
windscreen is attached to the top of the two double angle beams at the
front of this section of chassis. The
second picture shows an early version of the car without any
bodywork. This gives a good impression of the chassis
structure.
