The golden lancehead hunts seabirds, so its poison has to be powerful enough to kill its prey before it flies away. On Quemada Grande, the snakes are found in bushes and trees - a tree-climbing, snake-catching option that O'Shea cannot resist.

The remote islands of Brazil's Atlantic coast are the hiding place of some of the Earth's most unique creatures. For reptile hunter and scientist, Mark O'Shea, these lost worlds are gateways to adventure and discovery.

There is only one place where the Golden Lancehead is found... Quemada Grande off the the Sao Paulo coast. Even getting to this island is a challenge, let alone studying the most venomous snake in the Americas.

Quemada Grande - the lost world - and home to many venomous creatures of which the giant bird-eating spider is probably the least poisonous.
